How to recognise one

Five marks make the look. The count says how many of the 7 homages keep each one.

  • Black tachymeter bezel

3 of 7 keep it, 4 not compared yet. A black bezel with a white tachymeter scale running from 60 to 500.

  • Three subdials

1 of 7 keep it, 6 not compared yet. Three small recessed dials, two up at 9 and 3 and one at 6.

  • Baton hour markers

Lumed sticks at the hours on a black dial, a wider one at 12.

  • Baton hands

Straight lumed hour and minute hands over a thin seconds hand.

  • Asymmetric case

0 of 7 keep it, 6 not compared yet. The case is built out on the right to carry the crown and two pushers.

Each close-up covers about 12.5 mm of watch, using the listed case width and estimated photo edges.

Watchdives WD1863 S-Panda Racer on steel: Watchdives WD1863 Space Pilot

Choose the S-Panda WD1863 if a VK63 quartz chronograph's 60-minute timing range is enough for you. Watchdives lists a 41 mm mid-case, 46 mm lug to lug and 12.9 mm thickness including its bubble sapphire crystal.

The compromise. VK63 does not provide the Moonwatch's 12-hour elapsed-time recorder. Its 24-hour indicator follows time of day. The S-Panda dial is also a different configuration from Omega's black reference, and shared Watchdives dimensions are not measurements of this individual watch.

      Details and where to buy

      Before you choose

      Updated 4 October 2026.

      In brief

Start with the chronograph you need. The current Hesalite Moonwatch times minutes and hours with separate 30-minute and 12-hour recorders. Watchdives WD1863 uses VK63, which times up to 60 minutes and has a 24-hour time indicator instead of an elapsed-hour recorder. Similar subdial placement does not give you the same stopwatch.

The pick here is the WD1863 S-Panda Racer on a steel bracelet. It follows the Moonwatch family rather than one Omega reference. The Pagani PD-1701, Corgeut and Phylida stay in the full catalogue until their versions and movements are clear.

This table uses the Hesalite Moonwatch

310.30.42.50.01.001 is the black-dial, steel-bracelet Moonwatch with Hesalite and calibre 3861. Omega describes its asymmetric case, black step dial and aluminium tachymeter bezel with a dot over 90. Other Speedmasters differ in these details.

Bewrist's Speedmaster family includes broader chronograph designs. The WD1863 follows the Moonwatch family as a whole, not 310.30.42.50.01.001 in particular, so the comparison here is about shape and function.

The 24-hour subdial is not an hour stopwatch

Omega's 3861 drives a central chronograph hand, 30-minute recorder and 12-hour recorder, with a separate small-seconds display. That is a minute-and-hour timing arrangement.

Time Module identifies VK63's central 1/5-second chronograph hand, 60-minute counter, small seconds and 24-hour indicator. Its manual limits measurement to 60 minutes. The manual also covers VK67, but that movement's 12-hour capability must not be borrowed for VK63.

Time Module lists a date function for the VK63, but the Watchdives page does not mention a date on this S-Panda version. A movement that can show a date does not mean the watch has a date window.

Manual winding versus a battery-powered chronograph

Omega specifies manual winding and 50 hours of reserve for 3861. WD1863's product page calls its movement VK63 meca-quartz, and Time Module places VK63 in its quartz chronograph range. The original needs winding; the alternative uses a battery. Familiar dial geometry does not change that distinction.

Watchdives describes a sweeping central chronograph hand and snap-back reset. The movement underneath is still the VK63, not a mechanical Moonwatch calibre, and Watchdives gives no accuracy figure.

The 39 mm product title describes the bezel

Watchdives lists a 39 mm bezel and a 41 mm mid-case. This page compares the 41 mm case: the 39 mm in its title is the bezel, not the case.

Watchdives lists the WD1863 at 46 mm lug to lug and 12.9 mm thick including the bubble crystal. Omega gives 47.5 mm and 13.54 mm for this Moonwatch. Both list 20 mm between the lugs.

Why other familiar names are outside the shortlist

The PD-1701 comes with either a VK63 or a Miyota OS20, and its listing does not say which colour has which. Reviews of the Corgeut cover an older watch that may not be today's 3022-SL, and the Phylida Tin Tin has no confirmed model code. All three stay in the catalogue, but none is picked here.

Against the original, spec by spec

Moonwatch and the WD1863 S-Panda chronograph

Compare the specific Hesalite Moonwatch with the S-Panda configuration. The original winds manually and has a 12-hour chronograph recorder. WD1863 uses VK63 quartz with a 60-minute chronograph and a separate 24-hour time indicator.

      Questions

Do all three Speedmaster-style subdials time the chronograph?

No. The Moonwatch has minute and hour chronograph recorders plus small seconds. VK63 uses a minute chronograph counter, a 24-hour time indicator and small seconds. The 24-hour indicator does not count elapsed chronograph hours.

      Is WD1863 a 39 mm case watch?

The maker's page identifies 39 mm as bezel diameter and 41 mm as mid-case width. The case comparison uses the latter, with its stated basis.

Can WD1863 replace the Moonwatch for timing several hours?

Its VK63 manual specifies a maximum 60-minute chronograph measurement. The Moonwatch has a 12-hour recorder. If multi-hour elapsed timing is the deciding requirement, WD1863 does not reproduce that function.

Does the WD1863 show a date?

Watchdives does not say it does. Time Module lists a date function for the VK63, but the Watchdives page does not mention a date on this S-Panda version.

      Sources and dates

We read Omega's exact product sheet, user manual and product description for 310.30.42.50.01.001, the Watchdives page and Time Module's VK63 documentation on 4 October 2026. The table separates manufacturer dimensions from movement-level functions. We made no hands-on measurements or stopwatch tests.

The shortlist names one verified dial and bracelet configuration. Shared Watchdives specifications remain model-page claims. A movement's date capability is not proof that the selected watch displays a date.

No independent dimensional, chronograph, lume or water-resistance test supports this guide. The WD1863 page covers several dial and clasp versions; shared specifications are not measurements of the selected watch. Its date display remains unverified.
